The Three Freelancing Careers I Am Pursuing: Modeling, Personal Training, Teaching English

I am a full-time freelancer. These are the three paths I am simultaneously walking: modeling, personal training, and teaching English.

The Three Freelancing Careers I Am Pursuing: Modeling, Personal Training, Teaching English

Personal Trainer

The other day, while climbing, a guy asked me if I could teach him. I agreed.

During high school I climbed competitively for 3 years. I competed on a national level across the country for Vertical World climbing team. I have experience training and teaching competitively, so I believe this is a good route to freelance.

After high school, I got certified as a personal trainer at the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I worked as a personal trainer for 2 years before going abroad.

I find this job incredibly enriching. I love connecting with people and helping them achieve their fitness goals. It's a rewarding and meaningful job. So it's something I plan to take up again and take on a few students.

Model

I've worked with VNL, a modeling agency in Taiwan, for 2 years now. I've also freelanced with a plethora of different studios, agencies, and photographers.

Modeling is great for me because it provides insights into the innerworkings on businesses and their marketing department. How they shoot advertisements for their products, etc..

I also find this job to be fun. I get to meet other people who share the same interests as me: sports and adventures. Speaking with models from other countries is also very enriching for me.

English Teacher

I started teaching English to foreign students who came to study at my university in Seattle. Afterwards, when I went abroad to Thailand and then Taiwan, I continued to act as a private tutor. Only later did I take a formal job working as a full-time teacher at a 補習班 in 臺北.

However, I decided to return back to being a private tutor for the increased freedom and flexibility. I also find it more meaningful.
