We just had perhaps the biggest earthquake that I've ever had in Taiwan. I just woke up and right now it's about 8 a. m. Uh, January, April 3rd, yeah, April 3rd, 2024. The funny thing is, the earthquake went off at the exact same moment that my alarm clock did. So my alarm clock go off at 8, Earthquake's happening, and I I don't know what's going on.
Everything's shaking. Um, and then I run out onto the Yongtai, the balcony, and I don't know what to do. There's glass falling, um, in the kitchen, breaking on the floor. And I'm like, damn, okay, um, well, I hope the building is strong enough, because if this thing collapsed, well, we're dead. Um, I think definitely some buildings collapse in Taiwan, because a lot of them are quite old.
And then, I thought, okay, it's finally done, so I go downstairs to buy coffee, and then I'm walking back from, um, 7 Eleven, to come to my home. And then, I'm like, am I, am I dizzy, or is it shaking again? And all the trees are waving. You know, like, Taiwanese, they're so nonchalant about, about earthquakes. They just, they're not even phased at all.
Like, I just woke up, I'm tired, and I was a little bit startled, you know. And there's glass falling everywhere, there's items falling everywhere. I have doubts about the building's integrity. They're just chill, like nothing happened. I think probably most people didn't even leave their bed or even wake up.
Like, it's just a normal part of their day for them. But, I'm not used to earthquakes. When I first came to Taiwan, I was really scared of earthquakes. But, now I'm even getting used to it. Because, I've just kind of accepted, hey, it's my fate. Like, if something happens, it happens. Like You know, like, if you're a strong man or something, you can fight a bear, or you can fight some monsters, okay?
And you can put your best effort into it. But what are you supposed to do against an earthquake? Like, are you gonna shake more than it? Or, or Anti shake, you're gonna hold still and hold the earth still, or absorb the shock with your belly. I don't know, like there's not much you can do with the earthquake anyways.
I'm, I'm drinking my coffee here.
