If I am going to make it in life, it's up to me to put in the consistent work

Consistency and the power of time leads to fulfilling your dreams.

If I am going to make it in life, it's up to me to put in the consistent work

I lack consistency.

I start things, do it for just a short while, then stop.

But it seems to me after learning about other's success that the number one component or causing factor is just consistency.

They did x for x amount of time.

Then suddenly the success experienced exponential growth. "Overnight".

That's why it's important to have a vision and to stick with the plan.

The plan we have is good

We set goals like "go to the gym 3x a week" "write an article 1 time a week", etc..

There's nothing wrong with the plan.

Everyone starts with a good new year resolution. The issue is that they fall out. They don't keep going. They stop, and therefore their goal or dream never comes into fruition.

They make no progress.

And it's not the plan's fault. The plan is good.

The fault is the lack of consistency.

Warren Buffet

Warren Buffet accumulated 99% of his wealth after he was 60 years old.

He's a good investor, yes, but that is not the leading factor to his success.

The leading exponential component is simply time.

He did investing full-time, consistently for 50 years until he started to see the power of numbers.

He started investing when he was 11 and he has continued to invest till now at 94.

83 years.

That's insane.

Chris Williamson

He's mentioned on his podcast Modern Wisdom many times how for the first two years, there were months where his podcast episodes received absolutely 0 zeros plays.

Not even his mom or friends watched or listened.

But he kept at it, until recently it has just exploded and now he is running a very successful business.

He has some 2.5 million followers on YouTube, don't even know how many podcast listeners, has connections with all the successful people in the world, has his own company neutronic that is doing very well, and so on and so on.

Looks like an overnight success, but it was instead built on years of doing work in the silent dark.

TLDR

The point of this article is to encourage myself and you to be more consistent and to keep working on your goals - even if no one is seeing. The consistency will compound exponentially, it just needs time.
