I was just meditating and I had three realizations
Everything is happening within my mind, unobserved events are still transpiring, meditation is just objective observation.
- Everything that is happening in the world is happening within my mind. I was just meditating and I had about three realizations. The first realization is that everything that is happening in the world is happening within my mind, and it gives me a sense of power or control or understanding. It's a different kind of connection with reality, and I find that extremely interesting. So, for example, everything that is transpiring before my eyes is actually just happening within my mind. And when I think about that, it gives me a greater sense of confidence.
- Events that I am not witnessing are still transpiring in the universe. The second thing, perhaps, is the idea of how events that I am not witnessing are still transpiring in the universe. And if I think about that concept and expand my consciousness beyond just myself and just trying to envelop the entire universe, then in this case I feel much calmer, immediately feel much more at peace. And I feel like this concept connects back to the Stoic concept of viewing yourself as a minuscule dot in the grand scheme of the universe. And you find great solace in this mind trick.
- Meditation is not trying to find a blissful state. Yes, and then there is one more, which is meditation is not trying to find a blissful state, but rather it is just observing how things are, so good or bad. And this makes it a greater practice because even in situations where you might feel dismal or negative in some way, this is also a prime opportunity to practice mindfulness and realize its potential and power.
