Hello, everyone. Welcome to entrepreneurs Odyssey. My name is Jacob Today, it's raining. And apparently my room has a leak. So I woke up and my table is covered with water. All of my electronics, my microphone, my laptop, my camera. Everything was soaked. Luckily, it seems that things are okay. My laptop is elevated a little bit.
So it doesn't seem like the water was able to enter into the vent. Where the fans and the electronics are. So it seems to be okay. This episode will be very short. It's a quick update of my current thought process. So I've decided to change my website up a bit and turn it into half Chinese, half English. And the reason for this is I thought for a long time.
Okay. What is my niche? What are the problems that I want to solve? Originally, I was targeting people who are similar to me. You know, people who want to start a business. Well, this is great. And these are the people that I want to help the most. Uh, the issue with that is they're just like me and they don't have the money to buy a course or anything like that. And so, first of all, I need to create a business that is sustainable.
So I decided to go down the route of solving. Taiwanese problems. So I've lived in Taiwan for two years now, and almost everyone I meet has maybe at least two wants. Right. They want to improve the English. And they want to get fit and look good. /
Because I'm very athletic. They always ask me for sports advice. And for English as well. So I thought, Hey, you know what? These are two things. I'm an expert in. And so I can just, you know, Go about this route and see how it goes. And I think it will pay off because whenever I meet those people, there'll be like, oh, I really want to improve my English or, oh, I really want to start working out more and I'll be like, oh, well, why don't you just check out my website?
Like it has everything you need that. And then, you know, if they subscribe, it's good thing. And with the membership subscription, you know, it's quite stable and it's quite scalable. If I run an article and one person sees it, or 10,000 people see it, it's the same amount of work for me.
It doesn't change the amount of time and effort that I have to put into it. And so if I'm making $1 per month or $10,000 per month, it's the same amount of work. So it's quite great. And so the goal is, is I want to get at least 400 subscribers because that's enough to pay my bills. Once it gets to like a thousand subscribers, each paying $5 a month. Then I'm making pretty good money.
So I think, yeah, it will be a pretty cool thing to do. And I thought a lot about, okay, how will this work? Like why would they subscribe to me specifically? Well, there's already time when he's teaching fitness in Taiwan and there's audio Americans in America using English to teach fitness, but there's not many foreigners. In Taiwan using Chinese to teach fitness. So .
That will make me stand out a little bit. So that's one thing and, and you know, the way I look and then also I can sneak in some English. So for example, I can be talking about. You know, doing a squat and talking about the low back and I can mention the English word lower back and explain, okay, where's this on the body.
And so while they're learning fitness, they can maybe also learn a little bit of English as well. So it's quite convenient. And then also on my website, you know, if it's half in English, half written in Chinese, They can read my articles about philosophy and business. And these are the topics. And oh, they don't understand this part of the paragraph.
They don't understand this word well, right underneath it is the Chinese translation. So they can just refer to that and improve the English that way. And then maybe at the end, maybe I'll add some vocab words that they can study or something like that. I have lots of ideas, lots of things that are working on. And so I think it's a pretty good thing. Because with my experience with modeling as well, I attend a lot of these events with really, really rich Taiwanese people. I have this golden opportunity to connect with them. So I need something to be able to offer them.
Right. You know, these older Taiwanese people, they, they have so much money. They can buy anything they want. What do they want now? Well, they want to improve their English and they want to look good. And so those are like two, like, you know, hungry desires that people have. Right. They want to be able to speak with foreigners.
They want to, you know, flex the English on the other Taiwanese friends. And they want to look good. Now, usually they just go to the doctor and do a bunch of surgery and things like that. But you know, some basic. Uh, fitness and nutrition education will, would benefit them greatly. And so these are things that when I attend these events, these are things.
When I attend the events, I can bring a little business card and be like, Hey, you know what? You should check this out or here, add my contact information. And my goal is not to do one-on-one training. Because that means that I have to spend one hour of my time in order to earn, you know, one hour worth of income. And while that is good in the short term, it's not sustainable in the longterm and it's not good for growth or scalability. And so my strategy. Is to focus more on the content. The last few days I've went around and I looked everywhere to buy really nice shorts.
I know it sounds weird, but I want some shorts to shoot, professional videos. And so I spent a long time, I thought I was going to buy like these really bright blue shorts to stand out a bit. Then I even had the idea, oh, I could wear like the night market. Noah and Taiwan, you know, kind of something weird and special. But in the end, I ended up buying like these nice white looking yoga shorts a bit big, but they look very professional and I feel like, okay, I can take videos and pictures of myself working out and then put them on my website and it will look quite good. You know, like if I was in like the time when he's underwear and I put that on my website, you know, it's a little, it's a little odd, you know, like maybe that can be saved for like Tik TOK videos, but not for the website.
It's too unprofessional. Um, so that's how things stand for me right now. Leaky roof. Perhaps some ruined electronics and new business plan. So this business plan though, is, is quite exciting. And I feel like it's something more feasible. And In addition to teaching English and fitness to Taiwanese. I will also have a subsection on my website. With the same goal that I originally had for foreigners, basically anyone who wants to do something similar than I am doing. they can go there and they can learn.
How do I make my website? How do I make my podcast? How do I make my content? How did I think of my business strategy? My business plan? How am I reaching my target audience? What's my. Marketing strategy, things like that. I will just record them. Right? Like I'm already doing it. All I need to do is record it and let other people see.
And so like, if they think that is valuable, worthwhile, Then they are able to see that section on my website. Okay. Now, is there anything else going on? I am not doing so well in school because when you focus on one thing, you have to forego, focusing on any other thing.
Me focusing and making such great strides in my personal life and in my career and on this project. Means that I have not worked on school. And so, but I think, you know, it's, it's normal and you should be doing the things that are most important to your life. Yeah. Not what society tells you are most important. Do what you think is best. I would say. Uh, live the life that you want to live. Okay.
So, yeah, that's it for today's episode, just a very quick update about my, my business plan and how I'm going to gear my website. There's still some work to do, but I'm very happy about the direction that I'm heading.
And I think this has a very good chance of succeeding. Anyways. I hope everyone has a wonderful day today. If you have any questions about your business idea, or if he needs some advice, feel free to reach out to me. I would love to help you out, take care of. I love you all. Bye bye.
