Day 14 - My agency trained me in modeling, here are the tips they taught me
Modeling is a skill like any other that is to be learned. Here is how.
The article I wrote yesterday had no success.
I think these generic articles carry no value anymore. AI can write just this and faster. And even the image is unoriginal.
My best performing articles are.
Not well performing, but better than my other ones.
People want
- weird, unique
- personal
- opinion, review
Use images from my life. Create a blog, like I am doing here. Try that.
I also thing writing here on my website and on Medium are just okay, but the real money is creating high quality reels.
My friend created the most fire reel in just moments. I am dumbfounded. She said I should watch tutorials on YouTube and practice more.
Today I taught my student English for 2 hours, earned $3000 NTD which is almost $100 USD.
I then went to two castings. I'll be honest I really liked the clothes I wore. They looked fashionable, rich. Like golfing, old-money style.
Afterwards I went to the modeling office and trained.
Modeling tips
- keep your balance at all time
- small changes make a big difference on the camera
- your poses have to make sense, follow a story line, don't suddenly switch to a post that doesn't make sense
- do what you would normally do naturally
- don't do what you wouldn't normally do
- must convey emotion, through eyes and body
- imagine you are the person you are acting, for example if you are wearing a suit, imagine you are a gentlemen and all posing must match this theme
- honestly, for catalog, keep the poses simple and just make slight adjustments
- for Instagram shoots, do "evil smile" with the eyes to be charming and captivating
- follow an "8" (infinity symbol with the eyes), look right, look down, face doesn't move and look back at camera, then return and do the same for the other side
- keep arms slightly bent when doing fake walk
- for underwear shoots exaggerate the twisting to make the abs and muscles pop
- focus on footwork first, get the feet right, balance, then adjust the upper body
- be confident
- add depth to the way you look, alternative between an intense look into the distance, to a relaxed gaze towards that direction
- use staring often
- head can be tilter towards another direction, but eyes look at camera
- camera will be low shooting the model, so don't life up chin, an small changes will be massive
- try to express the feeling with the whole body
- put yourself into the mindset that you are doing what the client wants, and just embody the traits of whoever you are acting as, don't focus so much on posing
Afterwards I had fun exploring a park at night. Climbing underneath the highway bridge. Recording funny videos and spamming my Instagram story. Lastly riding the YouBike all the way from Danshui back to Taipei.
I went to the gym.
I bought a new phone, Galaxy S24 Ultra. The camera is truly incredible and will now be used as my main
